Renewing or Reinstating a Professional Credential

Colorado has joined the National Career Cluster movement and adopted a Career Cluster Model organized into 17 Clusters and 81 Pathways.  In conjunction with this change in organization, credentials are now issued by cluster and pathway instead of by program area.

Please Note: As you renew or reinstate your credential, you may apply for additional pathways for not additional fee. Make sure to review the criteria (Step 2 below) to insure you qualify for the additional pathway(s).

If you are applying to renew a current credential or reinstate a prior credential you will need to:

  • Step 1:  Determine if your credential was issued by program area or by cluster and pathway.  If your credential was issued after July 1, 2007, you can proceed to Step 3.  If your credential was issued prior to July 1, 2007 you will need to determine the Cluster and Pathway(s) in which you need to be credentialed.  If you do not know the cluster or pathway, contact your CTE Administrator or use our Pathway Reference Guide.
  • Step 2:  Review the Secondary Credentialing Criteria for additional information on the clusters and pathways in which you may qualify.  If you are concerned that you may not meet all of the requirements see our exceptions information page.
  • Step 3:  Submit the following items to CCCS:
    • Renewal/Reinstatement Form
    • Other supporting documents as noted on Renewal Application
    • NOTE:
15 hours of professional development = 1 semester hour
150 hours of occupational experience = 1 semester hour
    • Renewal Fee - $100
