The Colorado Community College System, in its continued effort in partnering across the state in order to help Governor Ritter fulfill the Colorado Promise, is playing an active role in the newly formed P-20 Education Coordinating Council.

The goal of the P-20 Council is to create a seamless educational pathway for every student in Colorado from preschool to graduate school. Along that path, students will be prepared to meet the challenges of a 21st century economy.

Most notable for Career and Technical Education, Dr. Linda Bowman, President of the Community College of Aurora and Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs at CCCS and Dr. Dan Lucero, Executive Director of the Colorado Association of Career and Technical Education (CACTE) have been appointed by Governor Ritter to serve as P-20 Education Board members. In addition, five council subcommittees will serve as working groups in the fall of 2007, focusing on:
  • Preparation and Transitions
  • Preschool to Grade 3
  • Teacher Preparation/Recruitment/Retention
  • Dropout Prevention and Recovery
  • Data and Accountability.

Additional CCCS staff members are serving as technical advisors within the five council subcomittees.
