Colorado has joined the National Career Cluster movement and adopted a Career Cluster Model organized into 17 Clusters and 81 Pathways.  In conjunction with this change in organization, credentials are now issued by cluster and pathway instead of by program area.

If you are applying to change from an Initial (or Provisional) three (3) year credential to a Professional five (5) year credential you will need to:

  • Step 1:  Determine if your Initial (or Provisional) credential was issued by program area or by cluster and pathway.  If your credential was issued after July 1, 2007, you can proceed to Step 3.  If your credential was issued prior to July 1, 2007 you will need to determine the Cluster and Pathway(s) in which you need to be credentialed.  If you do not know the cluster or pathway, contact your CTE Administrator or use our Pathway Reference Guide.
  • Step 2:  Review the Secondary Credentialing Criteria for additional information on the clusters and pathways in which you may qualify.  If you are concerned that you may not meet all of the requirements see our exceptions information page.
  • Step 3:  Submit the following items to CCCS:
    • Renewal Application
    • Other supporting documents as noted on Renewal Application (This will include documentation validating that you met the requirements noted in your Initial (or Provisional) Credential)
    • Renewal Fee - $100
